What Exactly Was Extended?
| Before | After | |
|---|---|---|
| ASP appointment for revenue of AED 50 million or more | 31 July 2026 | 30 October 2026 |
| Go-live for revenue of AED 50 million or more | 1 January 2027 | 1 January 2027 (unchanged) |

What Does the Extension Mean in Practice?
Only the appointment date moved. The time between appointing a provider and going live is now about nine weeks, which leaves little room for integration, testing and training. Businesses that wait until late October will be setting up e-invoicing over the year-end close.
What Should Large Businesses Do Before 30 October 2026?
- Shortlist accredited providers and check how each connects to your accounting or ERP system.
- Clean customer and product data: TRNs, addresses and VAT treatment.
- Appoint the provider and agree an integration and testing plan.
- Test real invoices and credit notes in November and December.
- Train your teams before 1 January 2027.

What Are the Penalties for Missing the Deadline?
Under Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025, failing to appoint an ASP or implement e-invoicing on time costs AED 5,000 for each month of non-compliance, and each invoice not issued electronically as required can cost AED 100, up to AED 5,000 a month.
Does This Affect Smaller Businesses?
Not directly. Businesses with revenue below AED 50 million still have until 31 March 2027 to appoint a provider and 1 July 2027 to go live. They can use the extra time to review their systems and data, and should watch for any further announcements.
