Audit
Statutory audits for licence, bank, corporate tax and QFZP purposes, including stock count attendance.
Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) in Mussafah hosts manufacturers and industrial companies, now under the KEZAD Group. Whether an ICAD company is taxed as a free zone person or a mainland company depends on its licence, which decides the QFZP option and audit duties. Every company registers for corporate tax and keeps proper accounts. SGA World provides ICAD audits, cost accounting, VAT and tax.
ICAD at a glance
The Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) in Mussafah is one of the capital's main industrial areas, home to steel, building materials, food processing, plastics, chemicals and oil and gas service companies. It is now part of the KEZAD Group, the economic zones arm of AD Ports Group. Manufacturers there face some of the most detailed accounting issues of any business: inventory, production costing, fixed assets and corporate tax.
SGA World provides audit, cost accounting, bookkeeping, VAT and corporate tax services for ICAD companies, from our branch in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi and our office in Dubai.

About the zone
ICAD is a large industrial zone in Mussafah, on the mainland side of Abu Dhabi, divided into several clusters designed for different types of industry. It was developed by the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), whose zones are now managed within the KEZAD Group of AD Ports Group.
ICAD is home to:
Because many ICAD companies are capital-intensive manufacturers, their accounts carry large balances in inventory, plant and machinery and bank financing, all of which need careful audit work.
Your licence matters
| Point | Free zone licence | Mainland licence |
|---|---|---|
| 0% corporate tax as a QFZP | Possible on qualifying income, if all conditions are met | Not available |
| Standard corporate tax | 9% on income that does not qualify | 0% up to AED 375,000, 9% above |
| Small business relief | Not available if a QFZP | Available if revenue is up to AED 3 million |
| Audit | Required to claim QFZP status | Required for LLCs under company law |
| Selling to the UAE market | Usually needs an ADDED permit or distributor | Allowed under the licence |
Your licence and the authority that issued it decide which column applies. We confirm this at the start of every engagement.
Choosing an auditor
Manufacturers need an auditor who understands how products are costed, not just how the books are kept. When you appoint an auditor for an ICAD company, check that:
SGA World audits ICAD companies and plans stock counts and fieldwork around your production schedule.
Tax
Corporate tax. Every ICAD company must register for corporate tax and file a return within 9 months of the year end. If it holds a free zone licence and meets all the conditions to be a Qualifying Free Zone Person, income from manufacturing and processing of goods can be taxed at 0%. Sales to mainland customers are generally non-qualifying unless they fall within the specific rules for goods, and non-qualifying revenue must stay within the lower of 5% of revenue or AED 5 million. A mainland company pays 0% on the first AED 375,000 of taxable income and 9% above.
VAT. ICAD is not on the designated zone list in Cabinet Decision No. 59 of 2017, so normal UAE VAT rules apply. Domestic sales are taxed at 5%, exports of goods can be zero-rated with proper export evidence, and import VAT on raw materials is usually recoverable through the VAT return.

Worked example
An ICAD steel fabricator buys steel coils, fabricates structures for construction contractors in Abu Dhabi and exports some products to Oman.
These are the areas where manufacturers most often see audit adjustments.
What to prepare
ICAD licence, memorandum and articles, and share register.
Trial balance, ledgers, bank statements and confirmations.
Stock counts, weighbridge records, bills of materials and costing.
Plant and machinery register, additions and depreciation.
Customer contracts, progress billing and retentions.
Corporate tax registration, VAT returns and the chosen tax route.
Fees and timing
Fieldwork usually takes two to four weeks once the books are closed. Plan it at least two months before any licence renewal or bank deadline, and well inside the corporate tax filing date.
The fee depends on inventory and work in progress, the size of the fixed asset register, contract accounting, bank facilities, the condition of the books and whether corporate tax work is included. We confirm a fixed fee after reviewing your trial balance.
